Surf Coast Shire will be running a cut-price pet microchipping day in Torquay and Winchelsea.
On Saturday 24 March, dog and cat owners will be able to get their pets microchipped at the reduced rate of $30 in Torquay at Surf Coast Shire’s offices from 8am-11am; and in Winchelsea at the Winchelsea branch of the Colac Veterinary Clinic from 1pm until 3pm.
Pets being microchipped must be on a lead or secured in a cage.
All newly registered dogs and cats in Surf Coast Shire must be microchipped under Victorian legislation; to help keep pets safe and ensure they can easily be found and returned home if lost.
Mayor, Cr Brian McKiterick, said the day was a good opportunity for residents to also register their pet and beat the annual 10 April deadline for registrations.
