See what the new Surf Coast Community and Civic Precinct has to offer at its open day on Saturday 4 February, from 10am.
The day will showcase the new recreation facilities including FIFA-standard synthetic soccer pitch, competition standard netball courts, AFL and cricket field as well as the double-storey Grant Pavilion and the Surf Coast Civic Building’s chamber and public meeting areas.
The day will include a special edition of the ever-popular Torquay Cowrie Market, live music, an art exhibition, sports clinics and demonstrations involving local clubs, a dog jumping competition, a family Twilight Cinema screening of recent release We Bought A Zoo from 8:45pm and much more.
Mayor, Cr Brian McKiterick, said the open day was all about showing the potential of the new precinct.
“The Surf Coast Community and Civic Precinct provides the whole community with a standard of facilities not before seen in the shire,” Cr McKiterick said.
“I encourage all local residents to come and see what these facilities offer.
“The open day is all about showing the potential for the precinct to host functions, events, sporting competitions and much more; so it is an important opportunity for local residents to find out more about what is available.”
Events being held include:
- A cake making competition from 10am in the shade marquee (bring your own cake and recipe)
- Zumba, Zenshin Karate, Yang Style Tai Chi, Wu Tao Dance, Little Tackers Dance and Singing For Fun demonstrations in the Grant Pavilion from 10:30am
