Sweet Jean's music draws on the colourful,bent soulful folk tradition, combining glimpses of gospel with the romanticism of old-school pop and the gallows humour of good gothic story telling. They play electric and acoustic guitars , banjo, autoharp and harmonica, with razor-sharp harmonies at the centre of it all.
Sweet Jean is Sime Nugent and Alice Keath. Sime is singer-songwriter and troubadour who has travelled extensively in Australia, Euroe and America. He has recorded as soloist, and as a member of the two-time Aria nominated bluegrass party band The Wilson Pickers. Alice Keath is the presenter and producer of Music Deli on ABC Radio National and has worked in many areas of music as a singer and songwriter, conductor and composer.
From Melbourne Sweet Jean has been described as 'one of the freshest and most original new acts…… for a long time in a city that's brimming with genuine musical talent".
Support will be from Victoriana Gaye (Jeff Raglus and Vicki Gaye Philipp) who has been touring and playing non stop for the past 3 years running.
