Torquay High Tide Arts Festival is a community festival. The 2011 theme is 'Awakening the senses'.
High Tide is supported by the Surf Coast Shire, Torquay Foreshore and many community groups and individuals. The festival is held in the streets, public spaces and some indoor venues around Torquay.
The Festival's aims are:
- To celebrate the uniqueness of Torquay, local culture and cultural heritage of the area.
- To embrace and celebrate community spirit and the community
- To encourage community participation.
- To showcase community services, groups and talents.
- To celebrate the environment in which we live.
- To develop and encourage access to new skills
The High Tide Arts Festival is held in December, prior to the tourist season onslaught, enabling the focus to remain local and to allow maximum participation before people are tied up with a hectic season but encouraging those visiting the area to participate.
