In the past 24 hours, officials of at least two sporting clubs in South Barwon have broadcast emails exhorting their members to vote for Michael Crutchfield in apparent direct return for the announcement of infrastructure grants.
South Barwon residents and their sporting clubs should receive fair treatment from their state government representative without the need to resort to politicising their clubs. It’s the job of a state government representative to support cultural, sporting, educational and health activities in the region. That support should be provided fairly, even-handedly and without any expectation of political partisanship in return by the clubs.
If Mr Crutchfield had been doing his job well over the past 8 years, there would have been no need for the tsunami of grants we have seen flooding into the electorate in the dying days of his term.
The blatant politicisation of community groups which is evident in these emails is abhorrent. It appears to be being encouraged or perhaps even expected by Mr Crutchfield. He is seeking short term electoral advantage at the expense of sporting clubs, the officials of which are surely at risk of contaminating their relationships with their members by practising partisan politics.

Oh please Heather, get over yourself, Mr Crutchfield has delivered for so many sporting clubs already. If people want to vote for someone who actually gets the job done and delivers on every promise then they should vote for Mr Crutchfield.
You are obviously still on your anti-sport policy with your attempts to close down McAdam Park motorcycle facility so you can help your developer mates turn it into housing. Maybe all sporting clubs and their members should be very worried with someone like you in town.
