Surf Coast Shire Celebrates Victoria Tourism Week

Tourism has grown into a major industry throughout the Surf Coast. It directly and indirectly employs 1000s of people and sustains many coastal lifestyles. Victoria Tourism Week which runs from the 6th to 11th September, celebrates this achievement.

As part of this years Victoria Tourism Week celebrations, the Surf Coast Shire and Surf Coast Tourism will hold two functions, one at the Torquay and the other at the Lorne Tourist Information Centres.

BBQs will be fired up and local produce will be on show as well as local entertainment. As Surf Coast Shire Mayor, Cr Libby Coker, said this week, "co-inciding with the start of spring, ït is a great opportunity to get out and enjoy the best of what the Surf Coast has to offer".

Torquay Visitor Centre

  • A barbecue from 11am – 1pm
  • Free Guided tours of Surf World Museum and the fantastic Revolutions exhibition at 11am and 12:30pm
  • A free movie screening of Surfing 50 States; a rollicking tale of two buddies surfing across the USA, from 1pm at Surf World Museum.

Lorne Visitor Centre

  • A Lions Club barbecue between 11am – 4pm
  • A display and Q&A session with Parks Victoria representatives on the Great Otway National Park
  • Otway Harvest Trail display and tastings of local produce.
